Our Commitment
Our commitment is to do all that can be done to reduce the impact of our activities, with a view to preserving the environment for future generations.

Our commitment involves reducing our emissions of greenhouse gases.
Aware as we are of the impact caused by our activities, we want to develop our activities while respecting both people and the environment. This means:

  • Leaving future generations a world they can live in;
  • Preserving biodiversity.

That is the spirit in which the Charles André Group is committing itself to reducing our emissions of CO2 by 13,000 tonnes by the end of 2011, through a project managed by the SQE department.
The project hinges on 5 major directions:

  • Equipment (replacing our current fleet by vehicles to Euro 5 standard, using synthetic oils and energy-saving tyres);
  • Fuel (individual consumption monitoring, setting up of diesel-oil groups);
  • Training (utilising comparison tools);
  • Organisation (monitoring of no-load trips, information systems, non-road transport);
  • Communication (changing habits).

That commitment is also an opportunity: to enhance our economic, cultural and structural vitality; to improve our competitiveness by reducing our diesel consumption and by designing new transport offers; to contribute to improving our image, both in-house and towards the outside world, as well as the image of road transport; and to increase the latter’s standing in the eyes of our clients.

The Charles André Group has decided to formalise that commitment within a framework that enjoys wide recognition in France, by presenting the project to the ADEME (Agence de l’Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l’Énergie) : in November 2009 we signed the Charter for the voluntary reduction of CO2 in the road transport of goods and the Group will do all it takes to reach that target.

Respecting the Charter and its commitment entirely depends on the full participation and involvement of all of GCA’s employees—together we will be making one more step towards the preservation of the environment.
